custom posters on a budget / diy

we were the luckiest bride and groom and managed to score our all time favorite photographers, Kelty and Hannah. Months after our event we sorted through wedding photos and dropped a pretty penny on beautifully printed photos. And then I put them in a box.

an album seemed silly to me. I'm just not the kinda gal that would ever sit around looking at a book of photos. I'd really love to frame a bunch of the photos in vintage frames I've collected -- this is a project -- I'll have to have glass cut, matte board cut, have to carefully frame them....blah.

This past week I took the super easy route and I couldn't be happier.

Inspired by a Pinterest board showing easy home decor ideas I used Staples to print custom posters. It took me 15 minutes to upload, crop, and order two 18" x 24" posters for around $40.

J and I lazily hung them with push pins and binder clips

river of a storm / not walk weather

J and I are accidental kid/pet/home-sitters.

we've never been precise about the math -- best guess is that we house-sit a minimum of four months each year. the time we spend away from home in big beautiful homes in SF is most certainly the reason we still live in a tiny studio apartment. it seems silly to pay more rent if we're away for weeks at a time.

shuttling house sitting necessities in and out of our apartment has become an art.

J retrieves our vehicle from its far-off parking spot

J illegally positions our truck on the sidewalk in front of our building's rear entrance.

we take turns carrying essentials to the truck while the other person stands guard. our nightmare scenaio is the possibility of our truck being ticketed during our delicate moving dance.

moving back into our home is always more daunting. carrying our goods up the stairs is a project. a million stairs leading up to a tiny apartment.

today is move home day. today is wet.

J is on-call for his plumbing job and I am without a vehicle. he took our clothes with him to work in our truck to spare me the task of moving even more home on my own via MUNI. he's a prince.

vintage Christmas

cyber Monday felt like the perfect time to support a local business. I picked up this adorable 4' white tinsel tree at Cliffs Variety on Castro St and carried it home on MUNI as a surprise for J.
