vintage Christmas with a twist.

I wasn't raised with formal religion so the holidays get confusing. my childhood had menorahs and trees but never with religious context.

my dad's family was sorta kinda faux Christian and my mom's family was a mix of things with strong 'we-are-scientists' sensibilities maybe stemming from a loss of Judaism pre/post holocaust.

I've been on a quest to find a lit Star of David Christmas tree topper because the melding of tree and Star of David is the best representation of my holiday spirits. the popsicle stick Star of David that I proudly made for our family's tree when I was in elementary school just doesn't seem sufficient. turns out there isn't a Star of David Christmas tree topper that plugs into Christmas lights. disappointment.

I've made up for it by purchasing ultra tacky holiday decor that makes J's brain hurt. tonight he saw the tree topper and announced, "you owe me."
